Objectives

In recent years, it's become clearer that most NGOs need a larger number of young volunteers if they want to make a long-term difference in their communities. This is true not only to make sure that the young voices of volunteers are heard, but also to help young people make a big difference and have more control over how their communities grow socially. To do this and keep going with their programmes, there is one problem that needs to be fixed so that they can keep doing good work that will last. The trouble is that most youth workers need to change and improve the way they talk to young people over time. Most of the time, this is because the way the young workers talk has changed quickly and will continue to change. Because of this, one of the most important things for youth workers to learn is how to reach, engage, and inspire young volunteers. The youth workers had the chance to learn how to use the new online communication tools without making a bad impression on the volunteers or putting a bad stamp on them. Instead, they learned how to adapt to how the volunteers act and use the online social tools as educational tools instead of just as communication tools. The needs are also backed by the Digital 2020 Global Overview Report, which shows that the number of people using the internet has grown by 7% since January 2019. In January 2020, there were 3.80 billion social media users, which is a 9% (or 321 million) rise from this time last year. Also, because of the coronavirus lockdown and having to work from home, youth workers and young volunteers found they needed to learn how to use new online tools for more than just socialising. So, we came up with this project together. Its goal is to help the partner groups build their volunteer engagement skills, with a focus on making sure that the digital skills of the youth workers match the new online trends that young volunteers are using. To reach our goal, we came up with three specific goals: 1. Developing creative and innovative online communication and joint work skills for volunteering among 30 youth workers from 10 countries in 12 months. 2. Making it easier for young volunteers to communicate and work together with innovative social media and creative online tools in at least one learning activity for each partner group in the next four months. 3. Helping 30 youth workers and 10 partner groups share their experiences and best practises in the field of volunteer engagement by using online tools for communication and teamwork. By helping the 30 youth workers learn digital skills, putting them to use, and then sharing their experiences to improve their work, we contribute to their personal and professional growth. We also improve the 10 organisations' capabilities and international reach so they can offer activities that meet the new needs of young people.
