Background

We applied for this project primarily to address the evolving interests, needs, and motivations of the immigrant youth and disadvantaged groups in our region, who form the core of our service demographic. With their interests and desires constantly changing, there arose a clear necessity for innovative methods to cater to these shifts. Our institutional findings pointed to the compelling nature of new trends, especially when connected with themes like nature and the environment. Therefore, to translate these observations into tangible outputs and enhance our institutional capacity, we recognized the need for planned, programmed, and professional studies that only international partnerships could substantially offer. The urgency of themes like climate change and environment, coupled with the significance of digital transformation, warranted heightened awareness in youth work. Furthermore, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic accentuated the turn of youth organizations towards nature and environmental activities, amplifying the need to diversify youth projects, like introducing gamification with themes of nature. Our partners' collective experience revealed a push towards outdoor activities amidst pandemic restrictions.
