The main goal of the project "From young to young: let's talk about political participation" was to involve young people in order to create a pan-Estonian platform for the Parliament elections in 2023. The Estonian Youth Council (ENL) has prepared platforms for both parliamentary and local government elections in the past but only based on the input of its network (youth organizations and local youth councils). Since every year ENL speaks more and more on behalf of young people who are not members of the ENL network organizations, it was important for us to be able to further develop the format of Participatory Cafes and gather the concerns and solutions of these young people as well. Participation cafes have been organized by ENL for over 10 years, but we realized that young people do not always understand how their input is used in the policy-making process and the Parliament election platform is a very good way to show it. The aim was also to empower the local youth councils at the local level, so that they, too, could get the input of local youth in their daily work and, based on this, help implement the ideas of young people. In order to help the local youth councils in the work of advocacy, they were given clear instructions to choose such topics that provide enough concrete input on the basis of which the solutions proposed by young people could be implemented. In addition to Participatory Cafes, ENL offered consultations to local youth councils in order to establish a plan for advocacy activities, and at the reflection event held in June, it was looked at what has been done in a few months and what still needs to be done. Since the Participatory Cafes happened local level, we also organized a national youth conference to further develop the Parliament election platform draft together with youth organizations, local youth councils, and young people. In addition to the further development of the Parliament election platform, the purpose of the youth conference was to discuss what participation opportunities Estonian youth could have and to offer inspiring presentations on various topics.
