We wanted to renovate how community organising is taught and trained. Therefore, we had following objectives: - To develop green competences for youth workers and trainers coming from the third sector. - To train educators across the 3 sectors in ecological community organising and to foster local Social Sustainability community organising educational paths - To apply community organising learning and competence development tools and adapt to the participating realities through hybrid digital and in person learning. - To Develop a compendium of tools and techniques for community organisers and community organising educators and trainers.
As practitioners from the field of community engagement and organising, we have noticed how formerly working methods of aggregation and community are somewhat becoming obsolete and outdated, contributing to an increasingly isolated and disconnected society, which creates passivity and apathy in facing the challenges to our lives, planet and lifestyles coming from a worsening climate and Social Sustainability crisis, which on the contrary requires bottom-up action. As educators and trainers we are well aware locally of what needs to be done. How it needs to be done is something we can only develop together - to bring to one place all our competencies, develop new approaches, prototype them locally and collect them for the benefit of the wider community. In order to demonstrate that this Ecosystemic Community Organising is a versatile, adaptable, tailored pedagogical approach to any reality, we need to bring it to a diversity of communities. This project is not a journey in itself, but a first step into adding value to existing educational processes and developing new learning pathways for a positive Social Sustainability, ecological and human impact.
