Objectives

The increase in prejudices based on cultural, religious and ethnic origin among young people has been the starting point of our against racism project, which has become widespread among young people. Political discourses of politicians in different countries of the world and in Europe strongly trigger this problem. As stated in the research results of the European Commission Against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), which is affiliated to the Council of Europe, there is an important need to carry out studies on the subject. Our country in recent years receives migrants from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan etc. It hosts irregular migrants from countries via Turkey. This problem has become even more complex due to the practices of politicians in our country and the social and economic problems experienced with immigrants. Moreover, the problem is not only the problem of immigrants, but also intolerance of people from different ethnic origins in different countries is a reality that needs to be addressed and evaluated within the same parentheses. The art of music, which is a common language and power in communication between people, is an important tool for people to approach, feel and communicate their emotions. Within the scope of our project, we aimed to increase the sensitivity of young people on this issue, to enable them to establish intercultural communication through music, to discover themselves, to express their feelings and thoughts through music, and we set out with our teammates to achieve our goals. In this context, the general aim of our project was to contribute to European peace by reducing the prejudices of young people against young people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We used the universal power of music to achieve this goal. With this project, we gave young talents from disabled or disadvantaged groups the opportunity to show themselves through music and strengthen intercultural relations at the international level. In order to contribute to the general purpose, our specific goals and achievements were as follows: 1- To inform the participating youth about the intercultural music norms. 2- To introduce the participating young people to the cultural music genres of the partner countries. 3- To raise awareness among young people about the impact of music on personal development and cultural integration. 4- To increase the ability of the participants to act together and in harmony by increasing the interaction between music and cultures. 5- To raise awareness among young people about how disabled or disadvantaged young people can realize themselves through music and how they can turn their disadvantages into advantages. 6- To raise awareness of the local people about the effect of music on world peace.
