Objectives

Addiction is one of the most common problems of the modern world. It is hard to find a youth who doesn't face any addiction in their lives - even though it could be an addiction to the internet, ICT, toxic relationships, etc. Yet, addiction is only a symptom. The disease lies beneath. It is a trauma we are carrying in us, the hole we are trying to fill with drugs and other destructive things. That's why we focused on healing the trauma. For that, we employed 3 following methods: 1) Disconnection from ICT. It created a space for re-connection with oneself and for a real connection with the people around. 2) Community - creation of a safe space for personal disarmament where people could be sharing both joy and pain, uncovering the deep traumas inside. 3) Social service - employing physical work to shut down the brain and reach what was hidden inside while creating something meaningful for others. For this purpose, we involved in the project the local association of the village of Malandreni to create a tandem Malandreni & Hopeland. Hopeland has been cooperating with the village for a longer time and is actively supporting its development. This time, we brought our cooperation to an even bigger level. In cooperation with both partners and participants, we set up the VISION of the project as "SERVICE" - in the belief that one first need is to serve themselves to be able to serve others, and they can grow through serving others, generating a real value and impact. As a GOAL, we agreed on "Creating a physical impact on Malandreni and Hopeland to create a positive mental impact on participants." Specific OBJECTIVES were: 1) Bringing 35 youngsters, and 7 group leaders to the main activity where all youngsters are with fewer opportunities. 2) Supporting development of Malandreni by creating constructions/cleaning and changing existing spaces in a way they are beneficial for villagers. 3) Involving Malandreni villagers in the process, therefore creating a space for intercultural education, getting to know the EU and its values. 4) Participants recognizing their personal traumas and its impact on their lives, and forming more healthy strategies raising their personal health and well-being. 5) Participants boosting skills important for both personal and professional life, namely Communication skills, Organisation and management skills, Cooperation skills, Sense of solidarity, Self-confidence, Sense of initiative, Leadership skills, Solution-oriented mindset, Awareness of other cultures. In this project, we focused on healing the pain inside of young people and supporting them in creating a more healthy approach to life through social service which should lead to bigger public involvement back in their everyday lives.
