Nowadays there is an increasing emphasis on using information and communication technologies (ICT) among youth. The flow of information reaches today’s youth at an incredible speed and debit so fast that, wrongly equipped, the youth is not taking the time to process, understand and questions the information received. The issue of disinformation and particularly fake news have lately become infamously popular in the world. It has a huge power to change how young people think, behave and feel. Although, the notion of fake news and disinformation dates back many tens of centuries, inthe 21st century it has acquired a new powerful tool –internet, that made it even more influential and encompassing. Social networks and social messaging have even further enhanced the spread of fake news. The groups mostsusceptible of falling for fake news are seniors and Youth. To avoid manipulation the youth have to develop critical thinking (the ability to analyze information objectively and make a reasoned judgment), which allows them to form own opinions, engage with information beyond a superficial level and equip them with self confidence with community development.
