The project, which comprised a networking and training activity for young workers, was hosted in Ancient Olympia. The low rates of physical activity and rising rates of obesity, which are brought on by the circumstances of modern work and lifestyle, were sought to be addressed. It is terrible that low levels of physical activity among individuals who don't play sports are prevalent not just in our nation but also around the world, which doubles the risk of coronary heart disease. Regular exercise has advantages for the cardiovascular system as well as long-term stress reduction. In most European nations, the prevalence of obesity has increased by about 10–40% during the last ten years. People, especially young people, in today's technologically advanced society deal with a significant problem as a result of a sedentary lifestyle and improper eating practices. People of all ages are negatively impacted by this scenario, but especially the younger generations. Although technology makes life easier, it also encourages idleness and laziness. People today are so immobile and laid back that they even choose unhealthy fast food over making their own meals. Young people are the future of our society and its builders, thus it is crucial to mold and educate them in the right ways to avoid a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. If these problems are not addressed, there will be a serious issue with young people in the future. Thus, these concerns motivated us to create this project with the aim of transmitting the values of the Ancient Olympic Games, the Olympic spirit, and the motto "HEALTHY MIND IN A HEALTHY BODY" to the younger generations. The Olympic Games and the Paralympics, originally scheduled for 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic, were finally held this year, demonstrating the people's determination to overcome obstacles and emerge as winners in life, while also conveying messages against all forms of exclusion. This serves as another reason for proposing our project in 2021. By utilizing the partnership of NGOs, youth organizations, and other pertinent institutions, the initiative seeks to produce well-qualified projects on the subject. The main goal was to encourage young people to have active, healthy lifestyles by fostering stronger international collaboration between relevant organizations, groups, and institutions. With the hope that they would internalize and accept the message of healthy living as a lifestyle, the educational activities created for this purpose implanted in young people the ideals of the Ancient Olympic Games. The project's objectives included utilizing Olympic education as an excellent framework to facilitate non-formal learning through experiential and hands-on learning in appealing sports locations. Awareness about healthy living was aimed to be raised among young people, who have also gained familiarity with the Ancient Olympic Games and comprehended the values and ideals of Olympism, which center around "fair play" and "a healthy mind in a healthy body." International cooperation was fostered to combat sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy nutrition. Furthermore, the project aimed to inspire young individuals and youth workers to engage in sports for a healthy life. It also intended to include at least one young person from each partner group who may be disadvantaged in terms of socialization difficulties, potential exclusion from society, or unemployment. Raising awareness among young people and youth workers about the benefits of sports was another important goal. Additionally, the project seeked to promote the entrepreneurial spirit of young individuals by actively involving them in various roles.
