The nEU Citizenship project had the following objectives: -Cultivate a network of youth, decision-makers, CSOs, and other key stakeholders from relevant public, private, and third-sector entities to revitalize public dialogue and encourage the active participation of youth in civil society and decision-making. -Educate participants on civic engagement through the lens of sustainable development and digitization, fostering a deeper understanding of the interplay between civic engagement and sustainable practices. -Equip Greek youth with the necessary tools and skills to act on sustainable development, civic engagement, and EU priorities, empowering them to be active agents of change in their communities. -Highlight the value of civic engagement to Greek youth and create openings for their meaningful participation, bridging the gap between civic engagement discussions at the European level and the need for targeted programs in Greece. -Understand and overcome barriers to entry that might hinder youth engagement, ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for all participants. -Work collaboratively as two CSOs (Youthmakers Hub and Ecogenia) and involve other key stakeholders to propel the conversation forward at the national level, creating a strong network for civic engagement in Greece. -Showcase digital tools that youth can leverage to foster active citizenship for sustainable development, promoting their active participation in democratic life and empowering them with technological skills. Ultimately, the partners saw this project as the first crucial step in rendering civic engagement more accessible and impactful for Greek youth. By showcasing digital tools and emphasizing sustainable practices, the project aimed to accelerate the impact of youth participation in initiatives and priorities at both the national and European levels. The project sought to unleash the potential of Greece's youth, enabling them to actively contribute to shaping their futures, their country, and the planet through meaningful civic engagement and sustainable development efforts. The timing of the project, spanning from 2022 to 2023, strategically positioned it as the introductory period to the 2024 EU and municipality elections. This temporal alignment provided an excellent momentum to promote and advocate for active citizenship among young people in Greece, empowering them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to engage meaningfully in civic activities.
