Objectives

Our main objective was to break with the feeling of loneliness and isolation that our disabled people and our families had, after the Covid crisis. We understood that sports activities could break this isolation or motivate the involvement of both interest groups. The pandemic showed both families and people with ID and that we support, that the key tool to overcome the difficulties of fear, insecurity, depression... was to be outdoors. In addition, we wanted to offer a guide so that our families could do these outdoor activities without having to depend on a professional of the entity that guided them in the execution of the same. The effects of the pandemic on our population were very noticeable physically and mentally. Increase mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, triggered behavioral problems and arose phobias and insecurities in their social interactions. In our internal quality of life measurements, the dimensions (emotional well-being, physical well-being, material well-being, self-determination, rights, interpersonal relations, personal development and social inclusion) whose scores were most resentful were: Physical well-being, Emotional well-being and Social inclusion.

Background

Our initial intention was to seek European allies to ensure that our people with ID and our families could participate in outdoor activities by improving their quality of life and expanding their network of personal relationships. NUestra entity has a long history of more than 40 years apotyando families (was the origin) and promotes sports and leisure activities, articulated through a sports club, CD San Cebrián. In spite of them, these two departments work independently and there were no synergies to improve and guarantee the activities they carry out, so we saw the need to seek an external response to connect families, people and outdoor activities. The needs addressed by this project are based on the importance of outdoor activities, which was clearly manifested in the wake of the pandemic situation caused by the covid19, and the social impact that the lack of such activities causes, directly related to feelings of loneliness, depression, etc. Also, due to the demand of the families themselves, who, having experienced the pandemic situation, proposed that joint activities be organized for persons with disabilities and families, since activities had always been organized, without being open air and also, neither had been done
