Objectives

The implementation of the EDICRA project had as main purpose the development of methodology and training program for the incorporation of young people into the world of crafts through the inclusion of digitalization and immersion in rural environments as learning vehicles. The objectives of the project were: 1)Facilitating the access for artisans to digital tools (online marketing, e-commerce, social media) to improve their marketing and professional situation. 2)Boosting the access for rural adults and youth with digital skills to vocations that contribute to incorporating innovation into artisan trades and any other economic, cultural or civic activity carried out in rural areas, improving their employability. 3)Democratizing the access of the population to training in artisan trades, especially the young population, with high quality standards and adapted to hybrid environments.

Background

Crafts are one of the axes of the cultural and economic development of rural areas and, however, they are in a situation of little modernization and generational change. On the other hand, young people are the most digital generation in history, but this development of skills has been diminished by the abandonment of the natural environment and manual activities. Given this situation, the organization saw how crafts and digitalization can be an ideal meeting point to promote a new vision of the future in rural areas, in which artisan culture improves its digitalization and, in turn, young people find new professional vocations linked to culture. For these reasons, EDICRA was born as the starting point of an initiative that promotes the training, digitalization and incorporation of young people in the artisan sector as a driver of rural development. The main needs addressed were: - Introduce new technologies in the artisan sector. - Connect young people with manual activities. - Improve the image of rural areas as a place of vital development.
