The implementation of the project led to it becoming an aid to schools, their teachers and their management teams, to offer attractive and motivating activities to students and their families based on historical events involving an ancient society but part of the roots on which our European society today is founded. As for the Federation of Troops and Legions and the Hannibal Barca Association, we tried to demonstrate that they were capable of going beyond the foundations for which they were created, by becoming involved in the society of which they are part as non-formal educational agents. Thus, the coordinated action of the 4 partners has allowed us to work on the path of digital transformation, improving foreign language skills to, among other things, facilitate the participation of young people in society and intervene in their future, reflect on our common historical past as a tool to improve the knowledge, skills and competences needed in an increasingly mobile, multicultural and digital European and global society.
The project was born from an interest of the Federation of Troops and Legions to take advantage of the motivating and attractive elements that have the celebration of the Fiestas de Carthagineses and Romanos to unite the trimilenaria history of the city, its archaeological sites and its past, with our future: modern, sustainable, digital and transnational. This interest was shared with the Hannibal Barca Association of France, with which there had been sporadic contacts where coincidences were noted in working with children as builders and protagonists of that future. Both chose to become educational agents taking advantage of the common historical heritage of both countries. The presence of the schools, one in Cartagena and the other in Montpellier, signifies the fundamental and essential presence of these children to star in the project. Miralmonte College has been participating in different European programs for years, the Arthur Rimbaud School understands as a factor of its development for quality education the participation in the opportunities that the EU offers in the educational field.
