Objectives

As we stated in the project, in order to promote healthy lifestyles, we would address the following specific objectives: • Promote culinary knowledge and skills that ensure healthy diets. • Raise awareness of the benefits of a healthy, active life in connection with nature among the educational community. • Exchange good practices internationally in order to strengthen cooperation and understanding ties. • Offer multicultural contexts to encourage learning foreign languages and to live experiences that, otherwise, would be difficult in the countries of origin. • Finally, the promotion of outdoor activities and contact with nature in an environment of respect and protection should also contribute to the curricular acquisition of the sustainable development objectives (SDGs) that must be addressed across all subjects of the curriculum. As schools, we are especially committed to the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development at a global level.

Background

The current lifestyle, which is characterized by a sedentary lifestyle and the difficulty, not only to spend time outdoors and do physical exercise, but also to carry out basic activities such as cooking fresh products, is affecting our students and their families more and more. This lifestyle is concerning the classrooms, causing some problems and disorders that affect their health directly; take the example of students who refuse to attend Physical Education lessons or other activities such as swimming courses or water sports, as well as students affected by issues related to food. On the other hand, we have detected that, after the pandemic, mental health problems among our students have increased and worsened: eating disorders, screen and video games addiction, and also, anxiety and depression. In short, at an educational level, we are committed to offer our students models that can help them recognize the risks of unhealthy lifestyles and, at the same time, provide them with strategies, skills and resources to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle regarding nutrition.
