To achieve our objectives, we initiated various activities in schools to familiarize both teachers and students with the importance of healthy nutrition and strategies for preventing and reducing food waste. In one activity, teachers and students collaborated with local partners to develop volunteer projects aimed at preventing food waste, collecting surplus food, and donating it to those in need.
With the School Food and Nutrition Education project, we aimed to introduce a fresh approach to traditional food and nutrition education in schools. Our goal was to promote the health and well-being of students while empowering them to become catalysts for change within their local communities, particularly in addressing the challenges of food waste and related environmental issues. To realize this vision, it was essential to create an innovative and comprehensive educational program. This program would focus on reducing waste generation and fostering environmentally friendly daily practices. We sought to integrate these principles into various aspects of school life, including the curriculum, extracurricular activities, school environment, and connections with the local food system.
