Objectives

The Muro d'Alcoi Handball Club is from the same town and is located in the province of Alicante (Valencian Community). It should be noted that this sports club was born in 2013 with the aim of promoting the practice of women's sport in the region of "La Montaña", which groups different municipalities (Alcoi, Cocentaina, Muro, Agres ...) The Muro d’Alcoi Handball Club is an open and avant-garde entity that stands out for its active policies for practicing sport in terms of equality and social inclusion. The Club has solid institutional and sponsor support to have material, administrative and social resources throughout its seasons from its inception. Currently there are about 20 players plus the coaching staff and has a social Massa of 300 subscribers every year, who give their support on the field and financially. In addition, their good work has been consolidating over the years and they have been competing for 7 years continuously in competition from the Valencian Federation. On weekends from October to May they play in different municipalities throughout the Valencian Community and project the name of the club throughout the territory. The board of directors is made up of three women in the main positions such as President, Secretary and Treasurer to coordinate all the necessary steps in its operation. The Club Handbol Muro, has as a priority its social commitment to participate in all initiatives that promote equality and social inclusion. For this reason, they have been promoting volunteerism and training in the educational centres of the Region for the purpose of raising awareness of handball practice. Its objective is to promote among its players the values of coexistence, peace and freedom that the European Union represents, but also to cooperate in sports and youth policies with the different European associations to share good practices and continue to generate opportunities through equality and social inclusion. The objectives of FemEUMVP lead from the point of view that, within the values that define us as a European society, gender equality is recognized not only as a fundamental right, but also as one of the most effective drivers of prosperity, peace and social justice. Although the issue of gender equality is becoming increasingly visible and many actions are being taken in this regard, it is clear that we are still a long way from achieving full equal rights and opportunities for all. One of the things to be achieved through the youth exchange in the municipality of Lorcha, was that youth participants from different countries can learnt through non-formal educational methods about the values of the equality, gender equality, female inclusion, women’s empowerment, etc. Also, to increase awareness of the topics such as gender violence, discriminatory practices and stereotypes, etc. As well, to improve their knowledge in the topics previously mentioned, but also to give them good examples of what actions they can take coming back in their towns, in order to improve their own lives and the communities they are living it. Some of the activities are also dedicated on spreading awareness to the close public and through communication platforms, such as social media ones. The concept of the project is to put all the values that sport transmits at the service of female empowerment, to contribute to the leadership of young European girls and transmit them the necessary impulse to be propellants of their own lives. Also, fundamental for the exchange is to give visibility and raise awareness about feminism in all areas of life through sport. In this way, the participants of this project will not only receive knowledge, but also had the opportunity to share it and put it into practice by creating their own initiatives and projects after the end of the exchange. In addition, the experience that the participants have throughout the project, but mainly during the days of the program, will improve their intercultural understanding, their ability to communicate and work together with people of different cultures and origins. With the exchange taking place in the municipality of Lorcha, it’s important for the youth participants from different countries to learn through non-formal educational methods about the values of the equality, gender equality, female inclusion, women’s empowerment, etc. As well, to become aware of the topics such as gender violence, discriminatory practices and stereotypes, etc. Thanks to the project, the young people will improve their knowledge in the topics previously mentioned, but also will learn what actions they can take coming back in their towns, in order to improve their own lives and the communities they are living in. The particular objectives of this project were: -Transmit the values of equality, leadership and teamwork as hallmarks of female empowerment through sport - Promote female inclusion in political, participatory and social life using sport as a common thread
