Objectives

The Association for employment, inclusion and development was created in Alcoy (Alicante) as a non-profit association dedicated to promoting and foster the youngsters social inclusion in the province of Alicante and to develop their personal and professional skills through different values such as solidarity, multiculturalism and society volunteering. Since its foundation, ASEID has developed its extensive work betting for the youth implication in the society giving them tools for professional and personal development. ASEID has been working in different fields such as education, organizing courses and workshops to engage and educate young people. In addition, it forms them to facilitate the search for employment or to encourage youngsters to create their own business. On the other hand, ASEID has been organizing and participating in Europe initiatives to promote European values like the equality of opportunities and the fight against discrimination. Also, the association has been promoting social innovations through initiatives and young programs in order to foster the inclusion of young people in Alcoià and Comtat, the region where the activities usually take place, and participates too in projects related with the environmental protection, the cultural exchange and local entrepreneurship. The activity took place in Lorcha, a Spanish municipality in the province of Alicante in the Valencian Community with a registered population of 584 inhabitants and near to cities like Alcoi. It is just 95 km from Alicante Airport. The activities carried out by ASEID are aimed at young people from the point of view of formal and non-formal education. In this sense, these activities have as main objectives to promote the higher educational development of young residents of the region and enhance their soft skills through areas such as entrepreneurship. In the entrepreneurs area, Lorcha has a privileged natural heritage that allows the practice of outdoor sports, specially mountain biking, and this is the main reason why it was selected to host the project development. Youth unemployment is a problem that many rural territories currently face in the European Union due to the lack of investment, infrastructure and resources to provide their population with the necessary comforts to find employment. With this project, ASEID wanted to achieve a solution to fight against rural depopulation in Europe. A large part of the young population in rural areas leaves their homes to study in other cities, and in the vast majority of cases this population does not return to their place of birth. This problem generates the depopulation of these municipalities and there is no generational change, causing the growing of the age pyramid. To fight against these problem our solution is based in a training to relocate work in rural areas both with entrepreneur formulas and also working remotely for other companies in other place in the world. This was the main idea behind RuralBiz: Youth Rural Entrepreneurship and fight against depopulation With the project RuralBiz: Rural Entrepeneurship for Young European Citizens, the idea to achieve was that youth workers from different European countries after being trained, return to their countries and try to apply new skills and ideas there. This mobility for the young participants that was held in Lorcha had a goal that youngsters from different European countries learn trough non-formal educational methods about different topics within the ICTs applied to remote employment: smart work formulas, remote productivity techniques and rules, social networks for job search entrepreneurship formulas, social selling or marketing in line of local products, among others. Bearing in mind all these important concepts for the project and working with the young participants and its experiences and good practices, two important objectives were assessed: the possibilities that rural municipalities offer to young people in terms of infrastructure, services, employment and personal opportunities and, on the other hand, rural depopulation and how to reduce this important problem that is affecting all Europe. The particular objectives of this project were: - Promote the use of ICT for entrepreneurship - Combat youth unemployment in Europe through high value-added jobs - Involve young rural population in European initiatives. - Create quality employment for everyone. - Provide rural territories with materials and resources to avoid depopulation. - Create employment and promote entrepreneurship in rural areas. - Exchange of good practices with other young citizens of other countries and like-minded communities. - Promotion of cultural diversity, traditions and customs. Thanks to this project, youth workers from rural areas were able to address these problems and apply new methodologies that could help to improve the situation in different parts of Europe.
