The ‘Play 4 Peace’ project arises from the initiative of a group of young people from the municipality of Sabadell linked to the entity through various local projects and who are interested in participating in an international experience framed in the Erasmus+ program. The connection of this group with the theatre and the coincidence with the 25th anniversary of the Declaration of the Dayton Accords, which put an end to the war in Bosnia, it allows to claim the bond of friendship that unites the cities of Sabadell and Sarajevo. Specifically, during the Balkan War, the Catalan municipality established a cooperative relationship with the Bosnian capital that materialized with the reconstruction of the Kamerni Teatar 55, which remained active throughout the conflict, and the subsequent exchange between artists from this theatre and the Teatre del Sol in Sabadell. This youth exchange aims to bring together groups of young people from both cities that are related to the performing arts, to get closer to recent European history and to become aware of the power of solidarity between nations through reflection and respectful debate, and the creation of a theatrical piece to vindicate cooperation and to denounce war conflicts. The objectives to be achieved during the youth exchange are the following ones: GENERAL OBJECTIVE 1.0. To strength the theatrical bond between both cities through their youth and non-formal education. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES 1.0. To encourage expression and bond through theatre and the performing arts. 1.1. To promote values and attitudes corresponding to the Culture of Peace and Human Rights. 1.2. To get to know the uses of theatre as a tool for reflection and social transformation. 1.3. To identify armed conflicts and to seek non-violent solutions and ways to prevent them. 1.4. To value the benefits of cooperation between countries and the achievements of cultural resistance. 1.5. To foster personal self-knowledge, group cohesion and social cohesion. 1.6. To empower young people in the development of a joint theatre piece. 1.7. To give continuity to the experience by replicating it in Sarajevo in the future. The YIHR BiH entity has been selected as a partner in relation to its country of origin and the topics in which it works since it should be a Bosnian youth entity, linked to projects related to human rights, social inclusion and non-formal education, and with experience in youth exchanges within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. The exchange will take place in Sabadell from September 5th to 11th, 2022 (plus 2 days of travel), with the support of the Sabadell City Council, which will facilitate the use of facilities, mainly the Teatre del Sol and the municipal hostel. For its part, the Bosnian group will receive the support of the Kamerni Teatar 55, which will collaborate with the partner entity in the selection and preparation of the participants of the Bosnian group. A preparatory visit (APV) is also planned for April 21st and 22nd, 2022 (plus 1 day of travel) with the leaders of each country in order to confirm the agreements, commitments and responsibilities of each one, in addition to the rules of coexistence.
