The Agenda implies a common and universal commitment in which all levels and actors of society must be involved. In this sense, the involvement of municipalities, due to their proximity to society, is essential not only to identify the needs of citizens but also to involve them in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set out in the 2030 Agenda. Likewise, involving young people and educating them on these issues is of utmost importance as they will be the ones to start making their own decisions and leading the future. Understanding the importance of the 2030 Agenda and the benefits of involving young people in it, as well as in the political life of the municipality, Benaguasil Town Council has carried out a research project led by its Youth Department, which has concluded the need to train and inform young people on the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, as well as the decision-making processes. It is in this context that the BRIDGE 2030 project arose with the main objective of bringing the 2030 Agenda closer to the youth of Benaguasil and providing them with skills and tools to debate and propose the future they want for their municipality together with experts and decision makers at local, regional, national and European level. We have sought to involve secondary schools, both in Agenda 2030 training and in European projects, for which we have carried out activities with the students of the centres. To this end, during the 6 months of the project, 3 activities have been carried out that have combined training, round tables, talks with experts, debates and a mock plenary session in which a winning proposal has been chosen with the commitment of the city council to carry it out. Also, beyond the direct results of the project, BRIDGE 2030 has pursued the objective of involving young people in the political life of the municipality, being this the starting point for the creation of a Youth Council that, with the support of the Benaguasil Town Council, leads and promotes youth activities in the municipality and defends the rights and objectives of young people.
