Objectives

We aim to empower both young people and youth workers by enhancing their digital competencies. This includes improving digital literacy and bridging digital inequalities, particularly among disadvantaged youth. We are also committed to enhancing the employability of young people, primarily through the development of digital skills and the encouragement of digital entrepreneurship. In terms of skill development, our project focuses on equipping participants with essential digital skills, such as coding, web design, and digital content creation. Moreover, we aim to strengthen the digital proficiency of youth workers, enabling them to better engage with young people. This also includes promoting language diversity and raising awareness about environmental and climate change issues. Finally, we encourage the use of European digital platforms, such as the European Youth Portal and the European Youth Strategy Platform, among youth workers and young people.our project's primary mission is to empower young people to transition from digital consumers to digital producers, equipping them with the skills needed to use the internet effectively and securely.

Background

The project was a commendable response to surging youth unemployment aggravated by COVID-19. Youth joblessness in the European Union (EU), as per Eurostat, climbed to a worrisome 17%. This necessitated immediate action. The EU's 2019-2027 Youth Strategy aimed to provide equal access to education and jobs, especially for those with fewer opportunities. A consortium from Spain, Turkey, Poland, and Italy collectively addressed the pressing need for digital skills, particularly among young people and youth workers. The project focused on web tools, coding, and web design to enhance digital literacy, promoting safe internet use and encouraging digital entrepreneurship. Through the consortium's combined expertise, the project aimed to bridge the digital gap, fostering active citizenship and youth entrepreneurship, and contributing to economic growth. The project aimed to address these needs and challenges collectively, and equip young people and youth workers with innovative digital skills necessary for the digital age. A SWOT analysis conducted by the consortium revealed that many youth workers, considered digital immigrants, relied on traditional methods in their work and lacked digital literacy.
