Background

Mutala school is a one-series elementary school that implements modern basic education according to the neighborhood school principle for children in the Mutala and Siihtala area. The school's operations are based on OPS2016, the KopaWay strategies of the City of Joensuu's Education Services, and the school's own Global Education, ICT and KV strategies created based on them. International pedagogy cuts through the entire school's activities and is a tool to carry out our teaching. The school's motto is Inspire and Succeed! Enjoy and Learn! The themes motivate learners and teachers to find joy in their work, to try different learning methods and to find the joy of learning. The positive pedagogy implemented by the school challenges students to see, support and notice the strengths of the learners and on the other hand notice the good in the surrounding society as well as experience their participation in Europe from the perspective of sustainable development and globalization. In our school, the participation of learners is reflected in learning, growing into a European and building a sustainable future. In our school, a strong positive pedagogy is implemented as part of the school's daily activities.
