To find ways in which we could help the students who study in the preparatory class to get to know better our school and students outside of their own classroom. Also to make it easier for them to join a new class after finishing the preparatory year. To find ways to use music as an instrument in creating more relationships between our students. To develop our ideas and maybe find Erasmus partnerships especially for the students, who have finished the preparatory class and joined our general education classes. To enlarge the knowledge of our staff about the immigration and refugees. To find ways to support the teachers and other staff in helping the foreign students to integrate into classes.
Our organisation Jokelan yläkoulu is a General education school in secondary level. We are a public school in the municipality of Tuusula. That means we have grades 7-9 in our school, kids around ages 13 to 16 years. We also have a preparatory class for the kids that have just moved to Finland. Kids in this class are also in the same age group. The context of our project was to pay attention to the integration of these students of the preparatory class into our school. To find ideas for this we wanted to participate in Erasmus programmes, that dealed with integration and foreign students.
