Objectives

In implementing this bilateral youth exchange project, our aim was to raise young people's awareness of the importance of health and promote healthy lifestyles. We sought to combat sedentary lifestyles by encouraging young people to adopt a balanced lifestyle, in which physical activity and diet play a central role. We wanted to improve the physical condition and quality of life of young people, particularly those who were overweight or obese, by helping them to maintain and improve their physical condition. We understood that this would have a positive impact on their physical, psychological and social well-being. Another key objective of our project was to foster social relations and integration among young people. We created spaces for exchange and interaction where participants could meet, exchange and support each other. We also made sure to specifically include overweight or obese young people, to help them integrate fully into social life and develop strong bonds with other participants. Working on young people's physical, mental and social well-being was also a priority. We worked on improving their body image and self-esteem by raising their awareness of the importance of lifestyles conducive to their overall health. We sought to provide them with the tools and knowledge to take care of themselves and adopt healthy behaviors. Informing and raising awareness among young people were also important objectives of our project. We shared information about the harmful consequences of junk food, a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits. We provided advice and guidance on nutrition, health and the benefits of sport, to help young people make informed decisions about their diet and physical activity. As part of our project, we also sought to promote balanced meals in schools, supporting the European Commission's recommendations to combat childhood obesity. We wanted to make young people aware of the benefits of a balanced diet from an early age, and encourage healthy food choices in their school environment. We also focused on developing young people's skills. Drawing on the eight Youthpass competencies, we helped young people to better understand and develop their own skills. We created workshops and activities aimed at reinforcing skills such as learning, mathematical and scientific skills, communication, social and civic skills, cultural awareness and expression, and initiative and entrepreneurship. Finally, our project sought to foster cultural diversity and discovery. We encouraged young people to explore other cultures, habits and lifestyles, through peer education activities. This reinforced the values of solidarity, democracy and friendship, and enabled young people to broaden their horizons and challenge their preconceptions. The project also helped to promote young people's health and well-being, foster their social integration, boost their self-esteem and self-confidence, develop their skills and promote cultural diversity. In this way, we hope to bring about positive changes in the lives of the young participants, and prepare them to take part in other European projects in the future.
