Objectives

The “A.climat.é” training was the continuation of the “Perm’être” training organised from May 30th to June 11th, 2022. It took place at The Northern Lights (host organisation) in St-Nizier-Le-Bouchoux in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes between July 4th to 17th, 2022. In line with the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals, these 13 days training had as objectives to provide to 35 youth workers knowledge and know-how around sustainable topics such as natural building, food sovereignty, permaculture design and energy self-efficiency. This training was designed in order to increase participants’ personal competencies and professional opportunities in designing human systems and living spaces to create stable and resilient systems providing shelter on a personal, collective and global level. This high quality non-formal training helped youth workers in their project with young people. It provided them a solid toolbox of competences and skills in order to help them to find employment and reinforce their mobility all over Europe. Moreover, informal activities such as talking-circle, collective intelligence and shared governance and informal exchanges enhanced youth workers' self-development. Indeed, it encouraged them in decision making and thus, to feel true ambassadors of ecological transition by disseminating the learning outcomes to their peers. Moreover, we collaborated hand-in-hand with 6 European partners organisations with whom we had a previous partnership in the “Perm’être” training (Greece, Malta, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium) and who are working in their own country on the same sustainable topics. Our aim was to reinforce the European network of innovative initiative through a quality non-formal training in order to find local solutions against global warming that could be disseminated nationally and internationally. As we shared the same values of inclusion and diversity with our partners, we designed this training by including people with fewer opportunities (i.e geographical, economical and social) and by respecting balance between gender. “A.climat.é” aimed to : Develop the professional, social and linguistic skills of participants and their personal development as a source of motivation and satisfaction in their daily work; Improve the quality of service offered by participants and by organisations of which they are members for the benefit of the greatest number and in particular of young people and leaders of social utility projects; Provide learning in : building and renovating in an energy and resource efficient way; participatory design-build method; food sovereignty practices and healthy nutrition that could provide high quality local jobs and promote participation in the labour market; Create links and develop cooperation between European actors fostering active citizenship and sustainable and inclusive development in Europe; Grow the capacity of the organisations in organising high quality educational experiences within the European context; Establish a long term collaboration and networking with the partner organisations; Give them tools for collective intelligence and shared governance; Reinforce their European feeling; Provide them with high quality non-formal learning in sustainable relevant sectors. Last but not least, The Northern Lights, like most of the other partners organisations, is located in abandoned rural areas and working with people facing geographical issues related to these areas. With the awareness that rural areas are the driving force of our food security, we designed this training in order to revitalise our territory by involving our neighbours into it and creating a link between participants and them. As a ripple effect, it had demonstrated to youth workers the importance of regenerating the social and natural environment through cultivating crops, mind and togetherness. It aimed to induce changes in the long term in a sustainable development perspective by focusing on empowering young people to take initiative and giving them the right tools to acquire every knowledge and skill they might need on their own path.
