By implementing the project the idea was for our learners to get upskilled in the tech areas we don't teach in order of increasing their chances to land a job in the IT industry. Due to our capacities, at the moment we can only provide them with an IT course in which they gain skills in frontend technologies. Although this by itself is sometimes enough to land a job, chances are much higher for students with full-stack skills which means that they need to strengthen their skills in backend technologies. The other objective was to upskill our staff and volunteers to increase the quality of education we provide. They're all highly skilled when it comes to technology but they lack the knowledge and experience in teaching. The organization provides basic pre-training on the topic of adult education and working with the target group to each volunteer teacher before the start of volunteering but since we're an organization focused on working with refugees in general, we don't have educators who are experts within our organization so we can provide just basic support to our volunteers when it comes to teaching methods and working with underprivileged groups in non-formal education.
Our organization works with refugees and migrants in adult education programmes related mostly to teaching digital and tech skills. Our beneficiaries are people with fewer opportunities and our educational staff is based on volunteers. Our volunteers are software engineers or are working in the digital industry, but by vocation, they are not educators or teachers. They are usually volunteering with us on a longer period meaning that they are motivated to build on their teaching skills.
