The Project objective is to empower visually impaired people in the field of communication, social and digital skills so that they can compete equally on the labor market when finding employment or changing jobs. The project "Unanimously to obtain skills" is aimed at increasing the competences of adults (18-50 years old) with visual impairment (blindness or low vision) who are members of the Croatian Association of the Blind and the Association of Associations of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Slovenia. By participating in the Project, visually impaired people will be better able to cope with the challenges they face today - lack of communication skills, insufficient and/or unsatisfactory social interaction, insufficient and/or inadequate digital literacy and overcoming language barriers in communication and everyday life.
People with visual impairment due to obstacles caused by disability as well as social and physical barriers belong to an extremely sensitive group at risk of marginalization and social exclusion. Unfavorable economic situation, non-competitive occupations, prejudices of the environment and their own limitations caused by disability are some of the reasons why it is difficult for them to find employment and material security for more active inclusion in the community. In addition to unemployment, one of the most common obstacles to active participation in the life of the community is the inaccessibility of the environment, as well as information about rights and opportunities, which makes it significantly more difficult for them to spend quality free time, along with insufficient social contacts and socializing. The Applicant and the Partner found that the problems faced by visually impaired people are universal, that is, they know no territorial boundaries. Precisely for this reason, the knowledge and skills acquired through previous work are an opportunity to use this project to upgrade existing knowledge, transfer mutual experiences and examples of good practice, and come up with new solutions together.
