Objectives

We aimed at promoting an understanding in depth of the crucial value of environmental education and how it will help us to become a more active citizen of the 21st century. -raising ecological awareness -promoting inclusive eco-education -upgrading teaching methods -providing an opportunity for exposure of new researches -defining and sharing good practices -developing transversal, entrepreneurial and organizational skills -promoting the use of foreign languages and STEM

Background

In the past, all schools were involved with different projects, mostly at national level regarding several topics. Furthermore, they showed a sincere interest in the activities of each project and urged us to continue our effort in the future. As cultivating environmental awareness seems imperative for the future generations we thought that starting a project that gains insight in the consumption of energy and the use of R.E.S. as well as recycling would make the future citizens of the European Union more active in school. School buildings should be transformed into sustainable ones and, although the progress will be rather slow, we need to find a starting point. This is the main reason that we applied for this project. Therefore, we share the strong conviction that by projects like ours we can change the involvement of this process and consequently reduce the deterioration of the environment. Educating young people about the ways they can handle environmental issues in schools as strategic places can promote the change of habits in individuals but also attract the interest of the authorities to make radical changes.
