The project idea came from a need we identified in our local communities, as well as among our volunteers, namely that young people tend to take drastic negative measures in their lives like extreme diets, spending a lot of time considering how they look and trying everything just to build the perfect image that the society shows up on social media, an image we are bombed with every day. Such exposure either consciously or unconsciously makes young people think that they are not enough and they start comparing themselves with such people. The standards on how we should look increased from day to day and changed so fast that trying to keep up with it’s becoming almost impossible, so we see every day more and more young people suffering from eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. As young people's dissatisfaction increases their quality of life decreases, and they find themselves in psychological distress and adopt unhealthy eating behaviors. The project’s aim was to increase youth's abilities to protect their mental health and personal values from the negative influence of social media. Thus, the project objectives were as follows: - Developing 36 young people’s abilities to analyze the impact of social media on their personal behaviors and habits. - Developing the critical thinking of 36 young people. - Increasing 36 young people’s self-esteem by discovering their unique abilities and characteristics.
