Objectives

The process of creating the project was very similar to our previously submitted youth exchange, to which this project was also closely connected, building on its results and experiences related to the topic and organization. Accordingly, it was also the case with this application that, although it was submitted by the Youth for the Nation Foundation, it was actually created by enthusiastic young people and implemented with the help of our organization. They were primarily the inventors and implementers of the program, our organization mentored and supported the process, provided organizational background and professional experience. The team was thus formed according to their needs, its implementation would not have been possible without their dedicated volunteer work. The chosen topic of the project: Why are young people inactive in public affairs? We searched for the answer to this and encouraged the age group between 13 and 30 to mobilize their forces and become more interested in advocacy and other similar topics. The following goal was defined by the young people and the organizers: - Examples of possible public participation, - Increasing the democratic participation of participating young people, primarily at the local, regional, national or even European level, - Collecting and organizing the opinions of young people regarding public participation in the framework of a questionnaire survey. The quality of the project was raised by the fact that, although within borders, without foreign partners, we implemented our program with cross-border topics and an international dimension. In order to achieve this, we implemented the following comprehensive activities: - social education of young people, development of their activity, - expanding their knowledge, while learning from each other, - developing their linguistic skills, - transfer of European values, - application of informal learning processes - familiarization with their basic international rights, - establishing an international contact system (also at the organizational level). Our young volunteers did not come up with the project independently, but also involved the decision-makers and potential participants they reached in the planning in order to get to know their opinions and to jointly shape the program according to their needs. During the discussions, it came up (just as during the planning of our previous project) that the public activity of the youth is low, that they are not or only slightly interested in politics and debate culture, even though they feel guilty and believe that they could achieve serious progress even at the local level too. They do not have the appropriate knowledge or skills for this, so we developed our application program based on our discussions. Our own experiences and what young people say also lead us to conclude that this inactivity is a problem at European level, young people are turning away from from public life, instead of supporting and helping it, they would participate in the building of democracies. This is also reflected in the fact that it is typical in all European countries that the youth are represented at the lowest level in individual national and European referendums. That is why our group of volunteers who created the project decided to create a research in the application, in which they ask the target group about the reasons for their inactivity, and convey this to the decision-makers, as well as build later projects on the results. This research was supplemented with programs to stimulate public activity, and this is how the entire project was created, which was implemented with our foundation. The most important motivations for our activity were the following: - help our participants to develop together, to become active, nationally and European self-aware citizens (we believe that the two fit well together and can mutually strengthen each other), - help the participants acquire the necessary skills, - supporting the conscious thinking of young people, with which they will be able to advance their affairs, - learn to use the knowledge and skills acquired here in other areas of life. One of the goals of our foundation was to establish contact between the target group and the decision makers. Our project identified and implemented the following quantifiable goals: - Creation of 3 youth programs of 12 days in total, deployment to festivals of great interest to young people, - organization of a total of 12 discussions and programs on public life and advocacy topics at our outposts, - Involvement of at least 5 decision-makers, - The direct involvement of at least 540 participants in the program, i.e. the involvement of at least 45 participants in our program every day, - At least 700 young people who fill out our questionnaire for our online research, the topic of which is the inactivity of younger age groups in public and political issues.
