The aim of the project was to improve the quality of youth work in higher education dormitories. We also produced a professional methodology and training publication. In addition to the above, we wanted to increase the inclusiveness of the dormitory community, make them more active in dormitory life, develop their entrepreneurial skills and ease their transition to the world of work.
Dormitories of higher education and the people who work there are seen by everyone as working in a field of higher education. Which is true, but in reality the work of the students and staff who work there for the community is much more than we first think. The people who work for the community are all youth workers, as the work here is about supporting and developing the competences of the students. Several researches and surveys have confirmed that the competences of youth workers are lacking and need to be developed, which is why, when writing this project, we decided to implement it in cooperation with a college of higher education in a non-Hungarian country, where similar needs have been identified.
