Objectives

Greater engagement in Professional Development - targeting reflection on practice and developing tools and techniques to share and 'house' these reflections. 1. Build coherent steps to Professional Reflective Practice at Carlow Institute 2. Staff will further develop Effective Teaching Strategies, leading to student success using digital tools for enhancing T & L. 3.Involvement of VET sector in the development and implementation phase of Cosán, the National Framework for Teachers' Learning.

Background

Carlow Institute is building on previous international engagement projects with Erasmus+ since 2018 and previously with educational partners in France, Sweden, Czech Republic, Italy and Germany. Cumulatively these projects, which have run successfully for up to many years, demonstrate our capacity to deliver innovative international education programmes. Though we have only 2 years in Erasmus + programmes, teachers at Carlow Institute have benefitted from the programmes personally and professionally. In the most recent KA2 partnership, teachers learned to use Design Thinking as a process to develop build curriculum and tackle problems. This new learning will be further utilised in this application where teachers will reflect on teaching practices and learn how to develop tools to assist with their questioning of what works best and how. Design Thinking will be central in our development of this training. The management of this proposed project is facilitated by the Senior Leadership of Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board and of Carlow Institute and this project is subject to the Quality Assurance frameworks. We adhered to the quality standards of Erasmus + VET organisations.
