Objectives

The main objective of the project was to promote the social inclusion of young migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers through vocational training activities in the field of catering. Additionally, the project aimed to enhance the project management and cooperation skills of three locally active organizations in the field of inclusion through educational and training activities, as well as voluntary and solidarity actions. The specific objectives were: Beneficiaries acquiring specific skills in the catering industry and transferrable skills. Beneficiaries gaining language skills. Increased social inclusion of beneficiaries through participation in the activities. Introduction of beneficiaries to the world of work in the two countries. Enhanced management capacity of the organizations. Creation of a lasting partnership and sustainable activities.

Background

The project was designed to provide vocational training and social inclusion opportunities for migrants and refugees from two countries that have played a crucial role in European reception: Italy and Greece. The partner organizations identified, in their daily work, the need to establish training and support pathways for migrants and refugees, aiming to increase access to employment and foster entrepreneurship and self-determination. They recognized that work and economic autonomy are essential pillars for genuine social inclusion. Therefore, funding projects like the one proposed here is necessary to give local organizations, with an understanding of the situations faced by migrants and refugees, the opportunity to work together and find effective solutions aimed at improving the conditions of the directly involved beneficiaries.
