Background

Ride the Wave has been a significant opportunity for Marevivo to advance its mission to protect the environment and fight against climate change, particularly in the field of environmental education in schools beyond Italian borders, reaching an European level. Overall, the project nurtured Green and Blue skills among Ocean Generation (UNESCO) students, with a specific emphasis on Ocean and Climate Literacy, biodiversity, marine pollution and the importance of ecosystem preservation in the Blue Economy Sector. Furthermore, it promoted shared values, equality and inclusivity. Marevivo and HELMEPA have achieved the goal of addressing the knowledge gap, especially among Italian and European students, identified in a European study regarding the role of oceans in the climate system. As a result of the project, students have become more aware of the oceans' significance in mitigating the climate crisis and the need to move towards sustainability, especially in the Blue Economy sector. In fact, their professional future choices will have a significant impact, and this is where Marevivo intends to focus its efforts, leveraging this mechanism to contribute to influence society and achieve long-term results.
