Objectives

We aimed to implement a series of activities that involved an interdisciplinary approach. Our goals were to foster a deeper understanding of children’s rights and responsibilities while promoting collaboration across various subjects, to encourage the students directely involved to respect children’s right , to foster a sense of civic responsibility and attitudes, to create materials, such as time capsules, workshops, videos, PPTs, promoting children’s rights and to enhance critical thinking, creativty and communication skills.

Background

The Erasmusplus project “Educating 4 Democracy: a bridge between home and school” connected the schools of thre countries: Italy, Poland and Turkey and we submitted our application for this project with a strong motivation, which stemmed from the necessity of education . The aim of this project was to develop a school curriculum through various interdisciplinary activities focused on teaching children about children's rights as outlined in the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child. The objectives achieved so far: -to raise pupils’ awareness about specific social norms and desirable behaviour in society among the 200 participants from the partner schools by February 2024 -to encourage the 54 directly involved pupils to respect children's rights both at school and in their after school daily life all along the 24 months of the project -to shape positive attitudes towards themselves and others -to create some materials that will ease the implementation of the actions which promote children's rights. Pupils were the heart of the project and all three partner schools had a high interest in providing the students with a comprehensive and inclusive curriculum, a safe environment where they can freely express their ideas.
