The project addressed the challenges imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic on the tourism sector, a key element of the European economy. Prior to the pandemic, tourism had experienced steady growth, but in 2020 there was a significant decline, estimated at between 70% and 75% compared to the previous year. Mobility restrictions and security measures had a devastating impact on airlines, hotels, restaurants and other tourism-related activities. The project focused on an opportunity to respond to the crisis by trying to redefine perspectives using information and communication technologies (ICT) to stimulate youth entrepreneurship in the tourism sectors of Portugal, Italy and Spain. These countries, despite youth entrepreneurial growth, were below the European average. The main objective of the project was to provide young people with digital tools and resources to generate entrepreneurial alternatives in the tourism context, considering digitisation as a key measure for economic recovery. The focus on ICT aimed to exploit young people's natural familiarity with digital technologies to promote innovative ideas in the tourism sector.
