With BECOME we want to activate a permanent non-formal pathway of youth activation to foster participation in the democratic life of local communities and the policy making process by youngsters on issues related to the European Youth Goals. The project is developed in particular around the Youth Goal n. 10 "SUSTAINABLE GREEN EUROPE", which will serve as a basis for promoting dialogue between young people and policy makers on sustainability issues concerning their communities. BECOME aims not only to increase young people awareness of the current environmental problems, but it wants environment responsibility to penetrate their values and stimulate their behaviour in a more sustainable direction. Rooting environmental sensitivity in the values of young people will lead them both to behavioural changes, becoming sustainable consumers, and to an increased political responsibility, increasing their attitude to be active in the community and to monitor political actions. BECOME aims to ensure inclusion and equal opportunities in access to non-formal learning services and to participation mechanisms in policymaking processes for young people with vulnerable backgrounds, allowing them to take part in these processes. By promoting the BECOME non-formal pathway in professional and agricultural secondary schools, the project will reach young people who normally are not involved in the traditional active citizenship initiatives. Finally, the partner organizations’ aim is to set up a permanent local youth activation program aligned with the Erasmus + objectives and priorities; this will creates the conditions for the development of their youth work at European level through transnational cooperation and exchange of good practices, as well as the strengthening of their youth workers’ skills.
