The main objective of the project has been to ease the access to the labour market of low skilled young migrants in their arrival countries by upskillig them with digital, linguistic and social competences and by easing the connections between them and the local employers. The specific objectives have been: to increase digital knowledge of migrants through the use of IT channels for job search and facilitate access to the digital platforms of public administration and institutions through the creation and use of digital identity; to increase language skills of young migrants, with specific reference to the sector specific language; to foster inclusion by increasing encounter opportunities between local employers and migrants by reducing distances (often also geographical), organizing workshops on specific topics that aim at the creation of co-produced materials. CREOLA wanted to strengthen the employability of young migrants as well as their key competences and basic skills. It increased opportunities to meet local communities, share social spaces and connect to people, local and foreigners, in order to reduce barriers between migrants and employers.
Although innovation is increasing more and more in our societies and people have the possibility to express themselves in several new ways, young migrants with fewer opportunities still face difficulties to access the labour market because of lack of network or/and linguistic and digital barriers. The challenges in the labour market and social integration faced by young migrants have worsen up since the COVID-19 pandemic, where discrimination toward migrants increased and finding a job is more difficult if not impossible without effective networks. These are the needs that CREOLA addressed. By organising training to increase migrants’ digital skills and their linguistic competences, as well as developing a local network on employment between migrants and employers, the project had a positive impact on the life of migrants. CREOLA supported them to gain the basic skills required by the labour market nowadays. On the other side, employers have been connected more easily with migrants looking for jobs in the local areas and they also had an efficient network of employers to ask for advice or to share best practices.
