Objectives

First of all, ERASMUS+ project "Kids go tech" are currently aimed at improving the professional qualifications of teachers in the field of STEAM and the use of ICT. By participating in trainings and observing the experience of foreign teachers, teachers of the kindergarten "Pasaka" will expand their knowledge and skills by applying ICT tools. Also aim to involve children in quality education based on STEAM methods and the use of ICT tools. Today, children gain knowledge through experience: what they do, test, experience, then make it compulsory to supplement education with STEAM ideas and the use of ICT tools. The STEAM method helps to develop children's critical thinking, problem solving, independent decision-making, creativity skills - these are the skills that are needed already in adulthood.

Background

Šiauliai kindergarten "Pasaka" has many experience in integrating STEAM subjects into the educational process. Since 2013 teachers are active users of the eTwinning platform and implement many STEAM based projects. Kindergarten is the ambassador of the STEM School Label project, which connects many European countries, constantly presenting it's STEAM experience on the STEM School Label platform. The institution employs several educators with high results in STEAM (authors of books, organizers of seminars, workshops), but kindergarten still faces a challenge - the application of ICT in the educational process. Teachers are still reluctant to engage in activities in which children can program, avoiding simple, playful, child-friendly ICT programs that could enrich the educational process and help consolidate children's knowledge. Project "Kids go tech" is a great start in encouraging and motivating educators to use ICT tools and programming basics boldly and confidently when working with kids.
