Objectives

The primary objective of the project is to achieve a significant environmental impact. We aim to develop cooperative connections between various organizations, particularly coastal libraries, to form a network focused on innovations, ecology, and education. This network will include socially engaged organizations dedicated to addressing the issue of water pollution. A specific outcome of the project is not only the establishment of these connections but also the facilitation of discussions and practical workshops with youth. This approach contributes to the larger goal of creating a long-term, inclusive, and inspiring "Blue Libraries" initiative. By fostering these collaborations, we aim to ensure the project's sustainability and its alignment with Sustainable Development Goal No. 14, "Life Below Water." The project organization has implemented additional actions to enhance the project's success. Our objective is for "Blue Libraries" to become a recognized brand that continues to promote the goals of SDG No. 14. We have successfully initiated the first project activities and achieved the initial set goals, paving the way for ongoing and future efforts.

Background

The project "Blue Libraries" - organizations and innovations for blue economy and water pollution awareness" was developed to address two main needs: To increase social awareness of the blue economy and sustainability within this sector. To promote youth social entrepreneurship in the blue economy sector. Throughout the project, we aim to engage coastal and other relevant organizations working in education, innovation, social services, public fields, societal development, and societal dialogues. These organizations will act as "lighthouses," raising awareness about water pollution and the endangerment of water biodiversity. This initiative highlights the significant opportunities to develop more blue economy innovations for future generations and the current market, addressing the gap in social innovations within the blue economy. Libraries, as centers of knowledge closely connected to their communities, play a crucial role in discussing issues that affect everyone. Water pollution is one such issue that often remains less visible compared to other environmental challenges. Sustainable Development Goal No. 14, "Life Below Water," emphasizes the importance of underwater ecosystems, which are not as widely recognized or discussed.
