The project brought together 32 youth workers from 8 organizations from partner and program countries to carry out a project addressing intolerance and hate coming from the disinformation and fake news that is a growing issue among young people. In order to address the need, we plan to implement a professional development activity for the youth workers and equip them with the relevant competencies to run a dissemination campaign after the residential meeting. There is a need to empower youth workers in partner countries/organisations and equip them with relevant competencies in order to address issues caused by fake news. Youth work has a huge potential to prevent misleading and negative impact that is caused by fake news. The need to empower youth workers to become conscious media consumers is more than ever. Enhancing critical thinking competencies and creating the tools for/among youth workers and young people can hugely contribute to combating fakes and decrease the cases of hate, misleading, and non-adequate behaviour among young people. The project aimed to prevent the intolerance and discrimination caused by fake and disinformation in social media and beyond by the youth work in the participating organizations and countries. The objectives were: • explore and promote the tools (digital and offline), activities and methodologies to combat fake news and disinformation; • develop participants (youth workers) competencies, in media literacy and critical thinking to analyze and evaluate the impact of media images and messages on youth work and society; • create intellectual visual outcome(s) (booklet and e-visual resources - posters, videos, pics) for the further dissemination; • promote intercultural dialogue and exchange among participants; • carry out concrete action plans to promote youth participation on the grassroots level at their organizations, beneficiaries and local communities.
