Objectives

The main objective was promote European values by bringing Europe closer to its islander borders. Throughout each of these experiences, we wanted participants to gain new perspectives and skills that significantly changed their lives. Allow young people who are geographically and culturally distant to meet, from the heart of Europe to its most remote frontiers. Give young people the keys to invent the future, while making them aware of their critical thinking, their creative potential, their entrepreneurial spirit, their ecological responsibility and their resilience force. Enable international cooperation of workers in the youth sector (art/craft, navigation, agriculture, ecology, etc) to share expertise and good practices. Question our modes of international mobility and event production. Bring a momentum and new inputs to the definition of innovative and structuring educational methods.

Background

KOPLA BUNZ, a theater company for young audiences subsidized by the Ministry of Culture, was seeking to develop new partnerships in the youth sector, in order to develop new educational concepts and promote artistic creation for children abroad. ATKA Polar School, following its positive impact on many children, wanted to dedicate its next expedition to a youth media created directly by the pupils during educational workshops in class or online. ATYLA Foundation needed to develop its financial aid fund to allow young people from all origins and backgrounds to join the crew of the training ship, teaching navigation to young people while promoting intercultural exchanges and equal opportunities. SAGA MOVEMENT wanted to enrich its educational program by collaborating with international artists and developing local activities in rural areas, in order to promote Icelandic natural and cultural heritage and strengthen its bond with Europe. OPEI wanted to promote current European issues (particularly the Green Deal) and allow disadvantaged local populations to benefit from international exchange programs.
