Objectives

The project enables us to perceive the real (non)dominance of women in relation to men in the family, community, and beyond, faced with a series of challenges of modernization in modern trends, bearing in mind the burden of tradition. Researching the real picture of the role and position of women allowed us to detect the reasons, opportunities, and barriers to progress, as well as the vertical mobility of the sexes separately in the investigated rural environments. Evolving the entirety of the research, we came up with a series of road signs that indicated women's (un)preparedness for new life positions, and through their positive life stories we detected the existing ways and methods of coping and adapting for easier functioning, not only in the community but also in bringing European values for gender equality closer together. To promote and strengthen the interests of women from rural communities in order to create gender-sensitive policies in the planned regions, including partnership relations with other associations, as well as the awakening of awareness of the totality of the social environment, creating conditions for the discovery of cultural landscapes.

Background

Female individuals were predicted and investigated; however, their role not only as main participants but also movers of a series of social changes and processes in communities showed us positive signposts for the way a woman should feel and be an active stakeholder in the creation of models that produce equivalence to all required stakeholders in the evolution of social development. Bearing in mind that our project was aimed at detecting and positioning the obstacles and barriers that rural women face through a series of activities, we managed to transparently highlight tradition and modernization in women's behavior patterns, not only in private but also in public life. The need to research the impact that manifested the subordination of the female world in relation to the male, especially in rural areas, proved to be necessary because it revealed to us a series of problem parameters regarding the adaptation and positioning of women in all spheres that until then seemed unattainable or were taboo for the entire community. In this way, new structured strategies were initiated to find solutions for reducing the gender gap in the family, neighborhood, institutional, and regional spaces.
