The goal of the ”Do It More ActivE+” project was to anchor proactive European young people to get involved in volunteering activities that would help the sustainable development of the community where they come from. Objectives of the ”Do It More ActivE+” project: 1-To anchor participants towards a proactive thinking and motivation to get involved in local community development by initiating a local social project per each national group during 5 months after activities. 2-To inspire the young people known by the participants to engage in volunteer activities by recruiting 10 new volunteers in each partner association for 4 months after activities. 3-To facilitate the exchange of experience for the purpose of understanding the concept of active citizenship by the 34 participants from 4 countries in the 7 days of activities. Precisely the aim and objectives of the ”Do It More ActivE+" project were current and came to help solve the problems in affected communities. The ”Do It More ActivE+" project helped young people better understand the needs of the community and understand how they can benefit. Through the exchange of experience, they discovered tools and levers for influencing the decision-making process and became motivated to be actively involved in civil society development. In a modern society based on sustainable development it is very important to involve young people in the decision-making process and various activities, so that the approach of this topic in a multicultural context is necessary. Through this project we helped to address to the following needs of: Participants: - accurate information on how to be useful to society; - need of affirmation and of being more proactive; - inspiration and motivation; - communication in a multicultural context; - to practice English and to improve their CVs; - multilateral development through non-formal methods; - to know new cultures and traditions; - to travel and meet new people. Partners: - volunteers who want to get involved in their own projects; - an enhanced portfolio of projects; - expertise in active citizenship, proactivity, community development, social exclusion and poverty; - Know-how in project management and knowledge of new non-formal methods - Reliable external partners. The hometown of the participants: - the young people who are involved in the development of the local community; - members of society who know their rights and obligations; - social projects to help the vulnerable groups of society; - the know-how in terms of sustainable development; - members of society that embrace European values. We chose Sint Maarten for the implementation of the project because it is the most exiled Dutch territory of the European Community, access to information on European Programs is very limited. The young people on the island are not very likely to participate in Erasmus + or other educational projects, more than in the interviews made in the last project with the local young people from Sint Maarten, we discover that very few of them have the chance to discover the European continent but also to leave the island, therefore we consider that Erasmus + projects are very welcome in this region.
