Objectives

The UID project sought to capacitate staff from the participating organizations to develop competences and skills to address diversity and inclusion at the workplace and at the local community level. The major thrust was also to raise more awareness on promoting the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities such as youth from minority groups, migrant communities and the African Diaspora in EU projects since there is a general lack of participation of migrant communities and minorities in youth projects.

Background

The united in diversity small scale partnership project was conducted to specifically : Increase adult educators’ capacity to work and provide key tools for social cohesion, community empowerment, citizen participation and social inclusion to individuals from minority communities such as the African diaspora communities. The UID small scale strategic partnership project addressed and fostered equal opportunities and ensured the youth workers from Muevete Por Europa, Stichting Codine and Eutopia were active participants in the social life in their respective countries by combating negative social behaviours like suicide, self-harm, depression, loneliness and racism amongst their youth communities. The needs also addressed by the project were related to promoting equity and inclusion for participants from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with fewer opportunities compared to their peers amongst the participating organizations leading to a trickle down effect in their communities and countries at the end of the project.
