Today's youth have inherited a planet ravaged by climate change. As they look toward their future, they're more motivated to be environmentally active than older generations - and they have more tools than ever before with which to make their voices heard through youth activism. Young people will live in the world that the adults are creating now and are also responsible. If we compare the world 100 years ago we will see the destruction and harm that is done. Young people are aware and need to become more active so their voice can be heard. When there are obstacles to participating in political processes, young people can feel disempowered. Many tend to believe that their voices are not going to be heard or that they will not be taken seriously even if they are heard. The concept of environmental activism, whether under the name of youth voice, decision making, empowerment, engagement, or participation, has become a hot topic. The Youth exchange “Action4Eco” brings 40 participants from 4 different programme countries: Norway, Romania, Croatia and Greece to make them aware that youth participation and environmental activism of youth in society is the key to building a healthy and happy nation. Therefore, the project’s objectives were the following: - To raise awareness in the community of the existence of environmental activism and youth participation; - To raise awareness of participants on the influence of green activism and advocacy on behaviour with special focus to be paid to self-esteem and self-confidence; - To increase participant's knowledge on how to improve green activism and eco-friendly practices in a positive way for own benefit; - To promote practices of ecology and activism, helping activists, and foundations be more effective and in bringing social change; - To exchange information on measures already taken and examples of good practices; - To develop participant's ICT skills, by creating videos, articles, by using new technologies; - To increase participant's competences to organise events, expressing their creativity; - To develop participant's competencies such as communication in English, teamwork in a mix-intercultural team, problem-solving, conflict management, leadership skills of the participants in intercultural settings; - To increase participant's knowledge on Erasmus + Programme, European Solidarity Corps and Youthpass, and to support creating new project ideas addressing participant's needs; The Youth exchange is designed in line with the European policies and it reflects the priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme.
