Objectives

There were 3 different objectives we wanted to achieve: 1. The objective oriented on the teachers - raising the knowledge level of our teachers, raising the level of the English language skills, making the teachers happy and fulfilled with the fact they know some new teaching methods that can involve and motivate their students more than anything before. 2. The objective oriented on the students - raising their motivation to come to lessons and active participation in the teaching-learning process, making the students feel at ease during the lessons and at school 3. The objective oriented on the school itself - enriching our teaching offer and attracting the students' attention, making them want to study in our school, enriching the offer of our school, the cultural development of our school, the development of our school in terms of developing and improving its European value.

Background

Zespol Szkol Ogolnoksztalcacych nr 1 w Gdansku is a high school that has been developing rapidly. Recently, we are mainly oriented on developing soft skills of our students as it is said they are valuable in the job market. Our students are 14-19 years old. After graduation, they all continue their education and study. The project was supposed to help students after the pandemic when a lot of them had psychological and mental issues due to the lockdown and lack of contact they used to know with others. Active usage of board games and drama during our lessons, along with a Role Play Games (RPG) club for the students willing to play after the lessons were the main issues we wanted to train our teachers on. Thanks to the knowledge gained in the courses and during the observation of the others at job shadowing sessions teachers of our school raised their awareness level of how important gaming is for our students, how much it can help them overcome the obstacles our reality provides, and also how significant the change can influence their future life and attitude towards coming to school and the very act of learning.
