Objectives

The world is becoming increasingly digital and modern, and we believe that Polish schools must become like that as well in order to make educational processes more effective. That is why we wanted to find out how teachers in other European countries (Portugal and Finland) work, what ICT tools they use, what methods they employ when working with students; in order to transfer at least some of the solutions that work well here to our school. With this project, we intended to take at least a small step towards a modern school on a European level. Our school runs classes with bilingual teaching, therefore it is important that more and more teachers improve their English language skills and become qualified to teach their subjects bilingually, thus enriching the school's educational offer.

Background

We entitled our project 'Let's upgrade our school to the digital Europe of tomorrow' and this title describes very well the basic aims of the project. Within our project we planned the participation of a group of 25 teachers and one non-teaching staff member in an English language course (10 participants), as well as methodology courses that focus on modern teaching methods (10 participants), and finally, on the Finnish model of education (6 participants). The 10th High School is one of Torun's leading secondary schools. The school's patron is a mathematician Professor Stefan Banach - we have rich mathematical traditions, and in more than half of our classes mathematics is taught at an extended level. We are the only school in the region that offers bilingual classes with English, in which, in addition to a high-level language education, we offer bilingual teaching to students, including mathematics, geography, history and computer science. International projectsplay an important role in our activities: youth exchanges (e.g. PO WER), international MUN conferences, European Comenius and Erasmus+ programmes, cooperation with AISEC and NASA. The school is also a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools.
