Objectives

The implementation of the project mainly aimed at the professional development of teachers with new language competences during English and computer courses. Project participants developed competences related to inclusive education during job shadowing. Another objective was to acquire new teaching methods for Polish and Ukrainian pupils. Through the project, we wanted to develop teachers' English language competences so that they could use educational materials and facilitate the use of Internet portals in English. The teachers also wanted to develop their digital competence by taking part in computer courses and learning to use google classroom, computer teaching applications, and to create their own learning materials for use in lessons, such as kahoot, canva, blooket, and learning apps. By doing job shadowing, we wanted to learn about methods of inclusive education - working with students with mental and physical disabilities. We wanted to learn about the working methods and organisation of the school with pupils from another country who do not speak the main language taught at the school.

Background

Miejski Zespół Szkół is located in central Poland and is a medium-sized school with a total number of students about 500 and an educational staff of 50 teachers and 13 non-teaching staff. The school works on the curriculum of a primary school and, due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, we also have about 40 Ukrainian pupils among Polish pupils. Preparatory classes are created for Ukrainian pupils. Miejski Zespół Szkół plays an important role among the neighbouring schools as it is also the school where teacher training courses are held and meetings are organised for schools that want to participate in educational projects such as Erasmus+ and eTwinning. Sports projects are also organised at the school. The project 'Time to move forward' was implemented by Miejski Zespół Szkół for 18 months. The project included 21 mobilities to countries such as Ireland, Malta and Portugal. The project involved 13 teachers and one non-teaching staff member, who made a total of 19 mobilities. Two teachers made a preparatory visit to Portugal.
