Objectives

Fake news and misinformation are major problems of the modern, connected world. The exposure of citizens to large scale disinformation, including misleading or outright false information, is a major challenge for Europe. We come across various forms of propaganda as digital ‘fake news’ is becoming a major threat, partly due to the ease of creating, diffusing, and consuming content. False or misleading stories can be easily created and spread through global online networks with just a few clicks. Teenagers are also the most common online users, but they don't have enough life experience to deal with online misinformation. Digital fake news has the potential to polarize public opinion, to promote violent extremism and hate speech, and, ultimately, to undermine democracies and reduce trust in democratic processes. Hence, the aim of the project is to help young people learn to spot misinformation in their normal day-to-day use of the Internet and social media, whether they are browsing the web, playing online, sharing information, or socializing on various platforms. to reduce the distribution of false news, and inform youth by giving them more context on the posts they see—so youth can decide what to read, trust, and share. To achieve this aim, we need to integrate youth into non formal education that will equip them with useful knowledge and competencies. The project objectives are as follows: -To understand the sociological and psychological implications that social media is having on young people and their identity. to foster critical thinking skills in the use of social media, thereby breaking stereotypes and prejudices against various socially vulnerable groups - to make people more aware of how dangerous fake news can be and to help them learn how to spot and fight disinformation, which includes things like discrimination, hate speech, harmful information, provocation, and so on. - to increase youth understanding of how social media opinions form and how to break through the digital filter bubble - to exchange experience, knowledge and ideas between participants, build up partnerships, generate new ideas and cooperate; - to connect participants with relevant stakeholders at the local, national, and European levels. -- To exchange the cultures, traditions and costumes of their countries;
