Objectives

The necessity of organising this learning opportunity came to us influenced by many factors: 1. Observation of the harmful influence on young people promoted by social media regarding body standards. 2. EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, especially Article 3 "Right to the integrity of the person. 1. Everyone has the right to respect for his or her physical and mental integrity." 3. Alarming statistics, informing to what can Body Dysmorphic Disorder contribute when not being treated, “People diagnosed with BDD are at a higher risk of developing a substance use disorder" Based on these factors, we created this project that will empower young people, helping them accept their body and get rid of toxic perceptions of their physical health Hence, the decision of choosing this particular 18-28 age group as the one our project is directed to, and of aiming at the following SMART goals: - Knowledge During the 12 months of the project, 24 participants improved their knowledge on body dysmorphia by developing their level of critical thinking towards what media propose as body standards; - Skills Throughout the whole duration of the project, participants got to use a set of tools and good practices for a healthy lifestyle, involving non-formal education; - Attitude By participating in the project's activities, they became more empathic and confident in their own skin, to be able to spread a message of body acceptance among their peers.
