Objectives

The main goal of our project was to strengthen our identity and regional, cultural awareness, to get to know and promote the multi-ethnic roots of the Carpathian region as an integral part of Europe. Another goal was to enable young people to participate in learning and creating culture based on non-formal education. An important goal was also the dissemination of cultural heritage, increasing the presence of culture in social life. We also wanted to promote and build the Erasmus+ community in our regions and to promote and strengthen our identity in the European Union. We have achieved our goals with great success by creating a joint piece “Soudns of Cultures” which refers stylistically to the folk music (culture) of the regions where we come from using modern and old instruments and techniques in cooperation with invited guests (folk band, musicians and hurdy-gurdy builder). In addition, we have created two original folk songs in Polish and Czech. This allowed us to promote culture among young people in a new creative way and to show that, among our differences, we also have many common features that make us a European community. We created a video clip for a previously recorded song and presented an artistic performance for the community. The video was recorded at The Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok - the largest open-air museum in Poland. The artistic performance “Soudns of Cultures” was presented at the Community Centre in Brzozów. During the youth exchange, we spent a lot of time on cultural and ethnographic workshops, getting to know our local roots, in order to better achieve our goals. We met with invited guests. A big attraction was the meeting with Mr. Stanisław Nogaj - builder of hurdy-gurdy, who recorded fragments of the piece together with us, using a hurdy-gurdy. We had the opportunity to get to know our heritage better thanks to visits to The Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok and to the Stanisław Wyżykowski Museum in Sanok (formerly the work of hurdy-gurdy).
